Tom in a fire pit

Tom Davis

Owner and artist at Tom's Fire Pits

Hi this is Tom from Toms Fire Pits. My hand made fire pits are unique, artisan, one-of-a-kind works of art. Each fire pit takes about 2 weeks to make. My fire pits are all hand drawn, constructed and hand cut with a torch (by me) out of 1/4 inch thick steel or 3/16 inch thick stainless steel (the same type of stainless that's in the St. Louis Arch, 304) ... which makes them very durable.

Because of their quality steel and construction they are very durable and can become a family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation. They are a lasting conversation piece of art that your family and friends will make memories around for years to come.

What are your fire pit options?

Our fire pits can be used in a variety of ways, but come as a standard fire pit with a free grate included. Some customers have made their fire pit into a water feature by adding their own water pumps or water falls. Others have added LED lighting or foggers. It is highly recommended that water features only be used in our stainless steel pits.
Toms Fire Pits can add center piece ornaments to your fire pit for an additional fee. Center piece ornament options include: dolphins, trees, wolves, musical instruments, etc.

What material is a fire pit made out of?

We offer two different types of material options: 1/4 inch thick steel or 3/16 inch thick stainless steel (the same type of stainless that's in the St. Louis Arch, 304) ... which makes them very durable.

Are the 3/16" stainless steel pits rust free?

No. They will have patina or rust areas due to the large amounts of welding and torching each one goes through. The stainless steel sphere can be cleaned up and maintained with 3M Scotch-Brite pads. I have done a large part of this but I can not get all the areas that will show up with outside exposure. The sphere is made out of 304 stainless steel and the pedestal base is made out of regular steel that will need to be maintained.

How does the 1/4" steel pit weather?

The 1/4" steel pits will patina (rust). Some of our customers prefer the patina look. Other customers have treated their fire pits using PAM cooking spray (oil) or high-temperature grill paint like Rust-Oleum High Heat grill paint or other methods they may find suitable.
